Analytics Reporting
After starting my job as the digital media coordinator at Harding University in 2019, I began creating monthly social media analytics reports, pulling data directly from the platform analytics to compare reach, engagement and track the success of our posts based on asset type and content categories. Throughout the school year, I maintained these monthly reports and compared our audience growth, content quantity and average monthly engagement rate by platform from month to month. By the end of the school year, I had created formulas to make these reports from scratch more time efficient. Click here to view a sample report I created in Excel. During the summer of 2020, we began using Sprout Social as our social media management platform, and I began a new reporting strategy using tags on each piece of content to track campaigns and sentiment. This allowed me to spend more time analyzing the results for incoming and outgoing messages, content patterns and engagement. Apart from social media, I also frequently use Google Analytics to monitor website traffic data in order to inform website content decisions for the University.

#HUToday: “I’m thankful to the students who have worked hard to begin this school year smoothly and with great strength. To show them some appreciation, I wanted to celebrate. To me, nothing says ‘celebration’ like a scoop of ice cream.” —President David Burks pic.twitter.com/KyEbphXBwr

Live Event Coverage
Covering campus events at Harding happens in many ways. Sometimes its a recap video we post the next day, but sometimes it’s live coverage on Twitter and Instagram stories to help people who cannot be present to follow along with us in real-time. Whether it’s a lecture or a kick-off for basketball season, live coverage was a frequent part of our campus event coverage.
"What we do as journalists is profoundly important. You may not realize when you are writing the story that it will have any effect. As journalists, we’re trying to give a voice to the voiceless. Tell the truth and let the chips fall where they may." —@JMitchellNews #HUASI20 pic.twitter.com/FcPaItdQJD
